SV Dawn Treader is a 1973 Columbia Sailcrafter 45 currently in dry storage and available as a rewarding restoration and refit project. Originally purchased from Columbia Yachts as an unfinished vessel and professionally completed by an aviation engineer, this yacht incorporates numerous custom-built structural improvements that set her apart from a standard Sailcrafter 45.
Among the most notable upgrades are a heavily reinforced hull with additional fiberglass below the waterline, a custom Pacific Spars mast engineered to remain standing in the event of a failed stay, and a custom shoal-draft keel drawing just 5'2", built with Monel hardware and additional ballast for exceptional strength and durability.
Designed with offshore cruising in mind, Dawn Treader offers a spacious flush-deck layout, generous interior volume, abundant natural light through oversized ports and windows, and extensive storage throughout. Her large aft cabin, comfortable salon, functional galley, and wide side decks make her equally attractive as a liveaboard or long-range cruising platform.
The vessel has remained out of the water since 2019 and is being offered as a project boat due to the owner's health. Included with the sale are the original Columbia Sailcrafter construction manual, technical drawings, electrical and plumbing schematics, equipment manuals, and decades of owner documentation—an invaluable resource for completing the next chapter of this yacht's history.
